The Purdue Ballroom Dance Classic is an all amateur ballroom dance competition hosted by the Purdue Latin & Ballroom Dance Team. Each year, the Purdue Ballroom Dance Classic at Purdue University attracts over 400 collegiate and adult competitors to W. Lafayette from all over the midwest to challenge their skills in front of our nationally ranked and certified judging panel.
Events are offered in a range of skill categories from Newcomer to Championship in order to give people a fair chance to compete against other dances with similar experience.
Several hundred spectators are expected to come witness the events as well, including sometimes the Mayor of West Lafayette, the President of Purdue University, the Journal & Courier, and the Exponent.
Ballroom dancing is booming nationwide, and with the continued exposure of dancing in the media, particularly the team's appearance on Dancing With The Stars, we expect the event to continue to grow.
Many competitors come to our comp to prepare for the collegiate dance nationals which occur shortly after our event in Ohio, at which the Purdue team has consistently ranked 1st or 2nd place each year.
We continue to use the same electronic score keeping system which is used at the national event in Ohio, to make results available almost immediately.
The team is always looking for sponsors, and we have many ways that we can help you reach your audience. Please contact us if you are interested.
